How Cute!!

Timmy has been sick for a couple of days now and hadn't really been eating like I wanted him to. So this morning when he asked me for a "dippy egg" I was happy to comply with his wish. We went into the kitchen and I started his egg while he watched. Once the egg hardened up a bit I used the spatula to move the egg into the middle of the pan, which set off some sputtering and hissing from the pan. Timmy looked up at me and said, "Boy, you move it around a little bit and it gets all grouchy". I laughed and laughed. But later I thought about the significance of his innocent statement in regards to the way we, as parents, sometimes react to our children's requests which take us away from a book, TV, bible time or any other leisurely activity we choose to pursue. I know that many times when my kids ask me to do something with them or for them while I'm reading I react with a grouchy attitude because it's taking me away from something that seems important to me at the time. I'm gonna try not to be so much like that egg. I should react happily that my children need and want my time and attention. A half hour spent in leisurely activity with my children will mean much more to me later in life than a silly book that I won't even remember reading. Give your children your time, it means more to them than things. God Bless.

  1. So true, I sure can be a grouchy egg. I like the mental picture, I'm pretty sure God will bring that "grouchy" egg to mind next time I don't want to be "moved" away from what I'm doing.
